I Don’t Need Your Civil War
America is experiencing growing pains.
We are in a civil war.
These are the words of former US attorney, Joseph diGenova. He went on to add that:
...the suggestion that there is ever going to be civil discourse in this country for the foreseeable future is over.”
He said this before COVID-19 came on the horizon. He also said this before the protests that followed the murder of George Floyd. He also made this claim before the burning and looting of America that followed.
Now, the talk of civil war is even more prevalent than before.
For years, I have complained about the routine traffic stop, the militarization of the police, and their overly aggressive tactics. Once I discovered what qualified immunity was, I complained about that as well.
I was sympathetic to the cause that the protesters in America’s cities were fighting for. However, I was still mortified by what I saw on the news every night as America’s cities burned. I was not sure who was responsible or even how to help solve the problem.
I saw the liberals blaming white supremacy and the conservatives blaming Antifa. People seemed resigned to an endless cycle of anger and violence, if not a civil war.
